Hi Mike and Sue Ann and I would just like to thank you both for providing yet another fantastic night at Taunton. It is just so nice to pop down from Scotland into a foreign country and find the company so friendly and chatty Denbury Days will never die. All the best to everyone who attended and see you all in September. Graeme (Jock Nicol) and Ann

NOT The last parade-Saturday 17 June 2017 I write this as an irregular attendee of the Royal Signals Association(RSA) reunion weekends at Blandford Camp and do not distract from the great organisational work that Jim(chalky)White and Phil Kirk are putting into the event at Newton Abbot in September 2017. The Background At the RSA weekend in 2012 something out of the ordinary took place on the Sunday morning parade of Ex Corps members. The parade marshal asked while forming up the veterans were there any Ex Falklands veterans or Ex members of 7 Signals Regt present(this unit had recently disbanded)? It had been decided by somebody(unknown)that any members of those two would lead the parade around the square preceding the Corps Band and the Branch Standards. On the day there were six Falklands veterans and twelve Ex 7 Sigâ??s veterans that stepped forward to form these two separate groups. Within the six was one Ex Denbury Boy and within the twelve there were three Ex Denburys Boys(one being myself). There were other Denbury Boys within the rank and file parading behind the Branch Standards. Very soon after this RSA weekend I had a conversation with the chairman of the RSA Brigadier(Retd)Hargreaves about these two groups who had lead the parade in 2012 and suggested to him that a precedent had been set on that weekend parade. I informed him that in 2017 it will be fifty years since Denbury Camp closed and it would be appreciated if the RSA would let Ex Denbury Boys lead the parade. I also pointed out to him that on the parade in 2012 there were considerably more than eighteen Denbury Boys present within the whole parade. He agreed that it would be a suitable time in 2017 to celebrate the time of JLR Denbury Camp closing. He asked if I would forward this request in e-mail form to RHQ RSA Blandford Camp for consideration by them. Within a few weeks a reply was received that the request would be placed â??on the back burnerâ?Ø until nearer the time. To ensure this request remained on the agenda of RHQ RSA I e-mailed them about two to three weeks after the conclusion of RSA weekends following on from my conversation with the Brigadier. Over the intervening years various members of the Denbury Boys groups have known of this request for 2017. The Present Three weeks after the RSA weekend in 2016 I again contacted RHQ RSA requesting they take the request â??off the back burnerâ?Ø. This they again confirmed in January 2017 with the remark it will be included on the agenda at the next committee meeting in February 2017. RHQ RSA said they could see no problem with the request being confirmed with RSM 11 Signal Regt controlling proceedings on the parade day. It should here be noted that for some years now this parade of Ex Corps members takes place on the Saturday morning of RSA weekend being 17 June this year. One of our Denbury Boys has offered to be our Standard Bearer wearing full regalia if a Denbury Flag can be obtained on the day. So in short itâ??s just a case of â??turn up on the dayâ?Ø and watch out for the Denbury red ties. This could be the last occasion Denbury Boys can parade in full view of leading Corps members in an official parade of the corps and the Corps Band playing too. I will post more details on this site when further information is known. Bernie Temmen Kohima 63-65(off & on)

John Birkinshaw Sadly we have heard nothing from DS for a good few years now. He lived in Stensall north of York and whether he s still there I wouldn t know. He posted a message about life-difficulties about 3 or 4 years ago and then it all went cold. The DBG is all the poorer without his participation. Do you have his address? By the way I ve stopped doing reminders for the mess meetings as it s easy to remember the 3rd Friday of the month-Cafe Rene Gloucester at 1pm. Although Feb I ll be in Florida. Cheers CJ
