Hi Folks, thanks for your replies, and yes indeed by all means pass details where it could do the most good. Thanks Chris on your message ref Trevor Calver, I contacted the guy light years ago and he called me quote-A THUG. So I didnt pursue the matter. I have to say that i did leave the unit under a cloud following a major stir by a toe-rag callled Tony Wallace who set about framing me for an incident related to juniors being clobbered with hockey sticks. That was over 50 years ago, and I tell you all out there that I never went anywhere near the lads with a hockey stick, but mud sticks and I was already on COs orders for a different issue and consequently when I was on COs I was fitted up by Wallace and his crones and was posted to 24 Sigs. I never got the opportunity to graduate, and I would still like to meet that little turd Wallace and give him a slapping!! To all those out there I say this, I am a very proud father, grandfather and Christian and may they all drop dead if I am lying in this matter. I do not say this lightly. If you are out there Wallace I hope you are proud of yourself for fitting me up like you did, and I hope your life is full of pain. To anyone that is out there and can confirm what I say then please do so. It shouldnt bother me now, but it always has done, because Wallace was a spineless little toe-rag that stopped me graduating and celebrating with my peers. On a lighter note I do know that if this had not have happened then I would , in all probability, never have met my wife and had the wonderful life that I have. But some things stay with you, and that little shit Wallace depriving me of graduating through lying his head off still rankles. It shouldnt but it does. I wanted that white plastic behind my cap badge that says you made it through. But I was at least in good company because the brilliant british champion boxer Johnny Prescott was thrown out of Denbury. Excuse these rantings but I still have hopes that Wallace will cross my path before I die, oh how sweet that meeting would be. LOL!!!!! Stay well (most of you) Tweet

Hi Tweet and all, after 15 years (longer than I served in the British Army) have decided to stand down from “Denbury Matters”, back 15 years ago on the first Yahoo Group, Tony Gask made a statement “Kohima Troop worn an orange flash and was the best troop in the regiment, I wonder what the other troop flashes were” this inspired me to recorded our short history now well recorded here denburyjuniorleaders.com
A few years later my friend Fred Songhurst RIP (White Spear 59-61) made a statement on the same Yahoo group, “what will happen in one of us passes away how can we let everybody know?” so I formed a “Denbury Boys Club” where members would share personal information and be able form regional mini reunions (has worked well in Oz) to make sure we all keep in touch, along with a print out card to pass to next of kin, welcomed by many but slagged off by a few thinking I was seeking some sort of power!
After the 2005 “Big One” thought we had the chance to form a REAL association to bring us all together, not everybody is “internet savvy” and need to have a postal connection so why should they be excluded today?
We are bunch of guys, some had a full career in the Royal Signals but many went for an alternative career with a different cap badge or joined the Police or Civil Service or became “captains of industry” however ALL started at Denbury and sure most will agree properly the best start to an adult life, a far as I am concerned has helped me getting on whatever live has thrown at me!
I rest my case
denburyjuniorleaders.com that will continue forever!

Hi There folks, Nightingale here, and have just noticed the message to/from John Berry regarding getting involved. I would love to get involved, but because I dont drive and I rely on public transport it isnt always easy to get to these functions . And it can be expensive to get to plaves like Newton Abbot. But if there is anyone living in Suffolk area and wouldnt mind a passenger then please let me know. I know it seems unlikely but is there another ten tors planned ?? Best wishes to all ex-boys out there and hope you are all well. Best wishes tweet nightingale0650

John Berry.. The trouble with most things is that to get amongst it you have to get involved. We had a similar situation at a funeral once where everyone had a great time apart from one guy who didn't introduce himself and though the same as you. As you have left you are obviously not going to read this message. But I didn't know about any reunions RSA Blandford or anything until I got involve in the Ten Tors 2010. Someone said to me that life doesn't come to you .You go to it. But whatever floats you boat. Thanks for your good wishes

John, I am unable to reply to you on the Denbury Days site due to an ongoing problem at my end.
I still have what I believe to be a Beaufighter Troop polo shirt as supplied to the Brisbane Denbury Boys re union by Tony Hargreaves (Iron Troop). If you would like this memento of your Denbury years, I would be very happy to slip it into a jiffy bag and in the post. Come to me privately on this email address with details for postage. No costs.
Best wishes for the future...George McIntosh

For Alan Howard, Charlie Charlesworth and any other Hong Kong veterans, 1 July 2017 will be the 20th anniversary of HK reverting to Chinese rule.
I am sure that anyone who was posted there will have many very happy memories as I do.

Terribly sorry boys but I'm bugging out of this site,
Same old names seem to be having the say on this that and everything. ( you know who you are }
Enjoyed my JL days but hey, that was a LONG TIME Ago.
Went to an RSA thingy at Blandford a few years ago and vowed never to return, Nowt but old boys in blazers in little cliques. Nein danka. So not ready for that. Nobody had the time of day to even speak!
Since 1977 have made many genuine pals (Police career) who really did care. Applied to join Edinburgh branch RSA and never even got a reply.
Good luck and long life to you all, Im outa here
