For Jan Silburn: I remember your late hubby Dave as a great character and he provided us with many a funny anecdotes of his service. One such occasion he talked about was in his trade of Electrician Driver (Ed) flying across the Atlantic in a RAF cargo plane carrying heavy generators. After loading the plane someone managed to squeeze a car on board. Over the ocean a problem occurred and Dave helped to jettison the car into the sea. I remember him as a great story teller and a great character who would help anyone. If you know his email password you could visit the denbury boys original group. All his messages will still be there, albeit back about ten years. Sadly the group got fragmented and we lost touch with Dave. We did launch a search for him in York about 2 years ago. We learned he was OK but he didn't return to barracks you could say. I was really sad to hear of his passing.

George I totally agree with what you say. In my opinion the split caused by backbiting and in-house disputes over unfounded accusations were the cause of the “Second Original Denbury Boys Site” being formed.
Tony Gask has developed an amazing site that is open to all. No risk of moderation and people are free to express what they wish. A site well worth supporting and is obviously now the in the lead to be voted the best site for Denbury Boys all be it the youngest.

A very interesting programme about e powered heavy goods vehicles called, People Fixing The World on the BBC World Service at 0400hrs today. The pioneering firm is Siemens in Germany. What we know as a 40' artic at the moment loses a few metres and 5 tons carrying capacity to the battery cells. The narrator spoke of lorries being platooned together, spaced by 1.5 seconds braking distance speed. The lead vehicle absorbing more power than those following, the thinking is for the following lorries to electronically subsidise or top up the leaders battery. The latter still not perfected but is being worked on. I'm at a loss what to do with my own car which is a diesel. And newer types of same are only produced still diesel power, albeit with the Adblue additive that reduces the harmful gasses by 85%. Typing this has virtually convinced me the adblue diesel is the better option, for now.
