Jan, have just seen your message, yes I'm sue I'm speaking for many of the lads who remembered Dave. He was in the same boys troop as me, but he joined a bit after me, but still one of the boys, he was also a regular member and posted many posts on the what I call the real Denbury boys site, but then he either stopped posting or lost interest I can't say, but the news of his passing was a shock to me and many others, I hope you are well and in good health. If there is anything you would want of us, please come on again and ask and I'm sure someone will do their best to help you. kind regards, Terry.

Is anybody interested in a reunion at Barnsley this year? If we can show sufficient interest, maybe Phil Kirk & Chalky White may relent and organise it.

Following the Barnsleyfest I was hoping to read something about the memorial or commemoration feature of a Denbury Boy, as was suggested in the summer with the death of Taff, Bob Wathen. It would be good to know the outcome or what?

Hi Troops.
Second shout for anybody interested in joining the Denbury Boys Hadrian’s Wall walk over the period 12 – 15 May 2023 from east to west. Full details are shown on this site under 'Events'. At present there are 3 walkers attending and Terry Campbell has kindly offered to support us during the walk.
There is a closing date of 31 March for anyone who wishes to join the walk that would like John Birkinshaw to book accommodation for them. After that date you can still join in the walk but you will have to arrange your own accommodation.

I am passing on a message at the request of Skip Harding.
Skips wife Rose has been very ill just recently and has been in hospital for treatment but she is home recovering now. They hope to come and spend a few days with us here in Weymouth in a couple of months.
Regards
Skip and Rose

Chris and all.
I did mention the bench at the Barnsley reunion.
Following some negotiation with the Jolly Sailor and their kind acceptance of the bench. A 4 seater "Windsor" bench and plaque is to be ordered by Phil together with a Standing wood/Brass plaque which is hoped to be fitted to the bench and inscribed with the brief history of the Denbury boys. This will be ordered by Phil shortly on his return from holiday, and delivered direct to the Jolly Sailor. When the bench is ordered I will post again. I hope that local help can now and agin make sure it is kept in good condition.

FAO Terry Reynolds. Terry, I have just seen your message about the "real Denbury Boys site" and cannot let it pass without comment. I remember well the original Denbury Boys site that I joined, this is before it was racked with disparate groups with their own agenda and with people who appeared to have some sort of protected, special status to say what they liked while others were moderated out for far less inflammatory statements. I had several long conversations with Dave Silburn and others who, like me were disenchanted with the direction the site was taking. I left, realising that life was too short, I did not slag off the owners, I did what others did and quietly left. I have not as others have done try to return either to be accepted or rejected as the owners decide, for me the reasons to leave were valid and final. I am fortunate in that as a Denbury Boy, I can get all the information I need from Denbury Days and for that, I am grateful to this day, I regard the original Denbury Boys site as a lost lost opportunity for me and others, rent with infighting and with people who were granted privileges not given to all. It may have been the original Denbury Boys site but by no means do I accept it to have been the "real" Denbury Boys site. I have no no regrets about leaving, never slagged them off and have never begged to be allowed to rejoin....George McIntosh
