Also s bottle of single malt for a dram at Christmas and his birthday which is on Boxing Day. If you are on Face Booc there are some photos. He is in ward C6 room 30 at Queens Alexandra Hospital Cosham Nr Portsmouth Hampshire if you want to visit or send a card. As George Days he has been given the all clear for his op in Southampton

Further to Chalky’s post on the 2019 Barnsley reunion, at present we are short of 40 to attend to ensure we get the same fixed price for the food and rooms. I have spoken with Donna at the hotel and she has furnished me with a list of bookings for the event. We have 14 rooms in total booked and we have 24 listed on the Denbury Days website. We were short last year of about 9 places, but Jim managed to talk the general manager, Anne into letting it go last time.
Barnsley is a great reunion and, in the past, has been well attended and even oversubscribed. If anyone has any suggestions on how we can improve the event to encourage people to come, we are open to ideas. We have about 4 weeks to make the decision to reduce the scale of event or at the last resort cancel altogether. If the numbers don’t go up we can have a buffet as an alternative to the sit-down dinner. This would mean we would be in the downstairs event room. We could still have the disco, but we would have to pay for this on top of the buffet costs.
The Newton Abbot 2017 was an exceptional reunion and the Barnsley 2018 although wasn’t as full as we would have liked was a good reunion. Maybe guys don’t like the formal reunions with wives. I don’t know.
We have introduced a raffle and each ex boy gets a memento gift as a keepsake for attending which never happened before. This year I have introduced a new item on the menu of Devilish Desserts award-winning steak and ale pies which we are donating to the hotel to keep the price down of the Dinner down.
Also, we have a scheme that we can assist financially any ex boy that can’t afford to come to the function by paying for food and accommodation. Just needs to pay for drinks and arrange transport. This is finance through the amazing raffle prizes that are donated by ex-boys at the reunions in which in 2018 I think most people won something.
I have not had any applications for assistance just yet. This is totally confidential, and it will only be myself that has knowledge of who is selected. So, if you know of anyone please let me know and I can vet the application and arrange everything for them.
It’s the 100th anniversary of the Royal Signals next year. This should be a mega Barnsley Reunion with even more surprises than usual but if we can’t get Denbury Boys to commit, I’m not sure if this is going to proceed. We will have to get some advertising done. Phone some of your mates and get them to book on Denbury Days and book the hotel room. If you don’t have a PC facility let me know and I will book for you. I will contact Tony Gask and see if he can get some enthusiasm from Facebook or the Web Site. I look forward to any of your comments.

Yesterday, Saturday 6 July 2019 I had the pleasure of visiting Chris Walker (Quadrant 64/66) at his residence in St. Helier, Jersey and was given a viewing of his superb collection of Signals Badges, not only our Corps but also those of Commonwealth & former Commonwealth countries. It was also my pleasure to see my old black parade belt duly mounted in its own presentation case on display. See Misc, Web links, Royal Signals Badges. I donated my belt to his collection following his appeal for such around last Sep/Oct. Chris and his wife Anne gave me the 5 Star treatment and a tour of the island. (We were in the same intake Jan 64). Chris & Anne thank you.
