As one of the last intake and about to take early retirement probably a bit like everyone else thought I had better try and catch up with a few old names that I remember and maybe some I have forgotten

To Frank Herod . Remember the car you had at Denbury Frank? We turned up at a pub one night where the O.C. and all the other officers and Senior N.C.O.s wrere drinking. We left but not before ordering a drink for Capt. Hoare. When we got back to camp Tim MArtin gave us a roasting for not buying the O.C. one. Good times. Ernie

Here is an email I have received from leo s friend who has been taking care of things for Linda in clearing up Leo s business dealings. I think we should be proud of the difference we have made for Linda.Dear Jim What a delight to meet with you lads again albeit under sad circumstances. I am truly amazed at the generosity and support that Linda has received. It will enable here to stay put for a year or so and she has done the rounds of Social Services Pension Dept and not least CAB who are being a great help relative to housing benefit Council Tax and other matters. I have been able to help in some small measure in that connection and Father Philip as always has been a great comforter. You have all been fantastic and I know that apart from Ron Mac and yourself in the big time there have been many donations of a more modest though generous nature.I have spent time with Linda over the past two weeks and of course prior to Leoâ??s funeral but I think now that she is getting her head round things and looking to settle down to a different perspective on the world. When I pay my annual visitation to my elder brother John at Barton on Humber in September I shall call on the way through by telephone just in case you are available for a swift half at the Ardsley House Hotel for old times sake or otherwise.Best Wishes and really well done for Lind I think you are all members of a great team.Cheers Jim

Hi Les.Your memory is spot on Trimdon is indeed my domain I hesitate to say i remember those early days too well-a little prompting is often needed-but Rob was indeed there too as was David Thomas one or two other names spring to mind but to be perfectly honest i cannot be sure if they were part of our intake or just friends of that particular time . Hope you have weathered well i cant complain myself as like you i am still here . Cheers Des

I left the site some considerable time ago because of the high and mnighty approach by some of the thought police there. They really should get a life and let other people have a laugh. Good on you Chalky-stuff em!

Just thought I would let you all know that Leo s funeral went off well. Approx 30 boys attended and as you would expect the church was full to bursting. Courtesy of Phil Kirk a video was made of both the church service and the buriel and the farewell with port on the Tamar. If anyone would like an copy please let meknow. As some may know I have left the Yahoo site because of some of the mails following Leo s death. If any want s to change or add to the Barnsley reunion list please contact me on my email address.RegardsChalky
