I have today received a letter dated the 2nd April 2013 from the Grounds Administrator at the National Memorial Arboretum. She says:-Dear Mr WaughI am pleased to inform you that the new hardwood bench dedicated to Denbury Boys is in place. It was nice to meet you last week and pleased you are happy with the location of the tree and Bench.I hope your dedication goes well in MayKindest RegardsRachael HaynesThat concludes our fundraising and placement in respect of the Bench and tree. Our fundraising acount re the above is as follows.Start date 01/01/2011 opening Balance 0.00Income from fundraising and donations 948.00Expenses re purchase of Tree and Bench 1 063.00End Date 04/04/2013 closing balance -115.00To hold a bespoke Dedication on the 26th May 2013 will cost a further amount which we do not have. If enough interest in attending had been shown I would have been cheaky and asked for a donation on the day to cover some of the extra costs. However as you know not many of us will be there so I have decided to just use the dedicated rememberance service at 11am for those who wish to attend followed by a visit to the RCS site where Bench and Tree are located. I have asked a couple of people to say a few words on site so I will confirm with them to see if they still wish to do so. I would like to express my thanks to Jackie for her fundraising efforts and to those individuals who donated to the fund.Have funHAM

Hi FrankI had planned to hold a service and dedication re our tree and plaque plus Bench on the 26th May 2013 at 12 noon. However there is very little interest from the boys certainly not enough to justify additional expense. Some have decided to boycott and others have been quite abusive for whatever reason. Some of us who are attending the K Troop reunion on that weekend and anyone else who is interested (currently 8)can attend the normal remembrance church service on site at 11am (it is possible for one of us to say a few words at this service) then just meander down to our Bench/tree site for 12 noon where perhaps others may wish to say a few words. The Bench is being sited at the RCS memorial site next to the Langleben Bench with the tree/plaque behind the bench.I will post details in the next couple of weeks once I have final numbers in and have drawn up accounts re our fundraising for the tree plaque and bench.Regards Harry Waugh
