Hello Ivan-Yes its 50 years ago today I left home to earn my first weeks crust which I think was 12s 6d (about 60p). I got on the train at Lancaster and travelled all day on my own to Newton Abbot where I was met by a Junior Wing Sergeant (can t remember who) and taken to Denbury Camp to start my army career.

Crickey ! 50 years ago today travelled from York to Newton Abbot to start a new life at Denbury. It was a long day a long time ago.
