John HamerMessage from John BonnettHi Phil Happy New Year (better late then never)I need a favour.John Hamer was medicaly discharged with diabetes and has been main lining with insulin since. I visited him just before Christmas he is beginning to pay the price for this his feet are bad he shuffles along and cannot wear proper shoes his eye sight is failing and his hearing has not been good for years and is deteriorating rapidly. So unless one visits the best way to communicate is by e-mail.He was taken into Blackpool Hospital yesterday to have toe removed but his kidneys are only operating at 5% so hes been put on dialysis to try and help they have unfortunately found other problems. Julie his wife info me today about all this.I have tried to put a short version of the above on the Denbury Boys Site and seem unable to do so.If you put a short version of the above on the site I would appreciate it also his e-mail; jwhameruk@yahoo.comIf anyone who can remember him could contact his e-mail it would I`m sure cheer him up.Sorry to go on so long but you needed to know the back ground .Thank you in anticipationJRegardsPhil Pearce

Hi Mike(prof) yes remember you think you had MK1 A40 and I had Mk2 A40 Farina. Lovely old cars. Good days (mostly) plenty of bull. 12x12 tents with laundered liners leaves removed bulled boots and combat kit. Leaves back in tent cos we were in a wood. Never mind we survived

Hi Ernie. if my memory serves me right I was part of a group of maybe 6 or 7 doing the commonwealth tour march across Dartmoor . You were in charge of our group and we got home safely which couldn t be said about other groups which got lost in the blizzard conditions which culminated in a chopper or two being sent out the following day. I believe you came from Saltash about that time. great days I loved them all-well maybe not all but at least the memories are there faulty as some of them may be All the best Des

Just heard sad news of Barry Maloney s death. I was not aware that he had been ill so comes as a shock. A super guy and a pleasure to chat to at reunions. He will be sadly missed. Please pass on my condolences to his family.Eddie I remember well from 3 Div where we were in the same troop in 2 Sqdn. Both had A40 s which we were always fiddling around with. Hope to catch up with you at Taunton Eddie. I did not know you were an ex Denbury lad!Regards to all. Mike

Sad news indeed Barry was my Patrol Leader when I first arrived at Quadrant Troop in 1965 ... He fought right till the end he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
