As some of you may have heard Jim (Chalky) White has resigned from being the organiser of the Denbury 2017 reunion. When I spoke with him he outlined the reasons why and to be honest I would have done the same. Apparently he gave a deadline for this Friday that if no one stepped up to take over he would cancel all the work he had done even at the risk of loosing the ?£500 deposit he has placed. I had no choice but to offer myself to be the organiser to save what I consider to be a very important reunion. I do not have the experience or negotiating skills that Jim has so I am going to visit him this weekend. (At my own expense) to obtain a full briefing of the state of play so far.. I intend to continue to call the reunion The Last Parade Reunion (As it is called now)I would like to add that this does not mean it is the last Denbury Boy reunion at Newton Abbot. I am in no way trying to take over the annual reunion that Mike Butchers organises. However I hope to take over the Barnsley reunion after speaking with Jim at the weekend as he is totally pissed of with it all. I will be giving Jim the ?£500 so you can see I m serious about taking on this resposibility.
